Bone Crier’s Dawn Review

The conclusion to the bone grace duology really out did itself. Even better than the first, I absolutely loved this book and the series as a whole. It will definatly be on my most recommended list. The ending was one of the most satisfying endings I have read in a while.

Still one of the most unique and enjoyable magic systems I have read, it only got better as we got to see more of it. Determined to break the cycle of blood sacrifice that enslaved the bone criers, our protagonists start on an adventure working not only to free themselves but all bone criers from the system that hurts everyone it touches to completely change the afterlife. Allowing for redemption for all, even those that seem beyond it, was a moving and strong theme in the book.

Free will and the importance of it is probably the most important theme in the series as a whole. Every single character is effected by the fight to claim and hold on to their free will. Ailesse’s struggle to lead her own life and not just be a pawn in the gods games inspires not only others in the story but the reader. She is the truly a strong female lead.

Sabine became my favorite character in the book. Her struggle with insecurity and finding her place in the world was great. It makes her instantly relatable. She is a completely different woman from the beginning of the first book, showing real growth. I truly loved the relationship that blossoms between her and Cas. It was just so sweet and pure. What she always saw as her greatest weakness ends up being the strength they need most and is such a powerful message.

With emotional reunions, loses, and sacrifices your left feeling a full spectrum emotions over the course of the book. There is one reunion that is particularly beautiful and makes one of the most touching scenes in the book. Everything I wanted, and even things I didn’t even know I wanted to see happens and really makes for a memorable book.

It’s rare that you find a series that checks all the boxes, but this duology does. With a strong and unique magic system, tooth achingly sweet romances, high energy action, and fun relatable characters all in a beautifully written world the bone grace series does just that.
