This time told from Easton’s POV, we follow his search for Beck after they have reincarnated following their deaths at the end of book 1. I usually like male POV in books but this one would have been much better as a dual POV in my opinion. Much of the mystery that made book 1 so great is missing from this one. Including Beck’s POV as well would have made the book feel more complete and enhanced the story. A quick read at only 213 pages, the additional POV wouldn’t have bogged it down but rather fleshed it out.

Easton’s character feels so very different this time around. Book 1 he was much more confident, always said and did the right thing, and was mature feeling where as this time around he feels way more insecure and juvenile. Of course a lot of that may be due to the situation he finds himself in. It just throws you off a bit and doesn’t quite feel like the same person. He is still terribly romantic and sweet though.

The good old “It’s better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved” theme is heavy throughout the book and Easton struggles with the idea that he may not have Beck’s heart this lifetime. Embracing the pain of loss because it means you loved is illustrated beautifully in multiple ways.

When you just want a sweet romance with a touch of the supernatural, The Tethered Soul series is a great option. While book 2 wasn’t quite at the same level as book 1 was it still tugs on your heartstrings and makes you believe in a love that endures even through death.

The Second Life of Everly Beck is an incredibly sweet story of love and reincarnation.
